School Children to Receive Free
Backpacks and School Supplies

-Miami Commissioner Marc Sarnoff, NET Employees, and Police Officers, will hand out the supplies during Legion Park event-

(Miami, FL)—City of Miami District 2 Commissioner Marc Sarnoff will hand out 150 backpacks and school supplies to students taking part in the City’s Summer Program at Legion Park 6447 NE 7th Avenue on Tuesday, August 11th at 10:00am.

The students selected to receive the supplies are enrolled at Morningside and Phyllis Miller Elementary Schools. Because so many local families are struggling with the current economy, it has become increasingly difficult for a large number of families to purchase back to school related products for their children.

Commissioner Sarnoff has handed out nearly 500 backpacks in total during similar events at Virrick Park in Coconut Grove and Roberto Clemente Park in Wynwood. The total cost of the backpacks and supplies has been covered by sponsors including Publix, Wal-Mart, Target, and the rapper Pitbull.
