City of Miami Celebrates
Third Miami Fishing Tournament 2009

(Miami, Florida) - The City of Miami, in partnership with the Youth Fishing Foundation, Inc. of Homestead, Florida, will host the third annual Inter City Tire Miami Fishing Tournament on Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the City's Miamarina located downtown at Bayside Marketplace at 401 Biscayne Boulevard.

The event will coincide with the City of Miami Marinas’ eighth annual celebration of National Marina Day, commemorating the important role that marinas play in waterfront communities all across America, also taking place at Miamarina. The celebration is open to the public and will feature music, entertainment, refreshments, and informational literature on such topics as slip availability, hurricane preparedness, clean boating habits, and manatee protection, for our marina customers from Miamarina, Marine Stadium Marina, Dinner Key Marina, as well as the general public.

The Tournament offers affordable team entry fees ($275 per 4 member team before August 3, 2009 – then $325 per team); team and individual prizes in a variety of categories; and free Tournament day tie-ups at Miamarina for team vessels. This is a one-day tournament, starting at 7 a.m. with lines out at 3 p.m. Tournament rules and a team entry form can be found at www.miamifishingtournament.org, or by calling Miamarina at 305-579-6955.

The City of Miami’s municipally operated marinas are Miamarina at Bayside, 401 Biscayne Boulevard (downtown); Marine Stadium Marina, 3501 Rickenbacker Causeway (Virginia Key); and Dinner Key Marina, 3400 Pan American Drive (Coconut Grove) and the Dinner Key Mooring Facility located just offshore from Dinner Key Marina. Miamarina and Dinner Key Marina have been designated “Clean Marinas” by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for their efforts to reduce water pollution, and the City will have available information on how boaters can help to improve the quality of Florida’s waters and natural resources.
