Bike Miami Community Ride Comes to MiMo

-Residents Encouraged to Ride Safer, Better,
More Confidently with Help from Police, Volunteers-

(Miami, FL)-Bike Miami Rides, the City of Miami’s free community bicycle event, offers residents the opportunity to become safer, better, more confident urban cyclists with help from City of Miami Police and volunteers. This Sunday, July 19th, residents and visitors will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the City of Miami NET Office at 6559 Biscayne Blvd and learn the basics of better cycling before heading out for a 2 hour bicycle ride through Miami’s Historic MiMo, Little Haiti, Buena Vista neighborhoods and the Design District. No registration is required and the ride is completely free.

Residents must bring a bicycle, a water bottle and are encouraged to wear a helmet. Before the ride, residents will learn:
-         The“A-B-C Quick Check”: how to check your bicycle’s Air, Brakes and Chain for road-readiness.
-         Helmet Fitting: how to fit your bicycle helmet for optimum safety.
-         The Rules, Rights and Responsibilities of Cyclists and Motorists on Florida roadways

At the end of the ride, participants are invited to join the City of Miami Bicycle Coordinator, members of the City of Miami Bicycle Action Committee, City staff and volunteers for lunch. Destination is to be determined.

The meetup point is the local City of Miami NET Office located at Legion Memorial Park, a beautiful waterfront park in the heart of the Miami Modern (MiMo) Historic District. There is abundant on-street car and bicycle parking in the area. The group will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the shaded area just behind the NET office (6599 Biscayne Blvd). Please bring a water bottle, your helmet, your bicycle and your friends!

Bike Miami Days and Rides is an initiative by Mayor Diaz to promote community, livable streets, bicycling and walking. All official events are free, family-friendly and require no registration.

Bike Miami Rides require a bicycle. If you do not own a bicycle, you may rent one from a local bike shop for the day. Please contact your local bicycle shop for details.
