Chairman Joe Sanchez
Creates Community Volunteer
Clearing House:“Joe's Troopers”

(Miami, FL)- City Commission Chairman Joe Sanchez has created “Joe’s Troopers” – a first-of-its-kind on-line clearing house for City-wide community volunteer efforts.

The service can be used to advertise and gather volunteers for a wide range of community activities such as:

·         Neighborhood clean-ups.
·         Gatherings to paint and spruce up an elderly person’s house.
·         Block parties, picnics and neighborhood social gatherings.
·         Charity events to raise funds for seriously ill or disabled neighbors who cannot keep up with health care, mobility equipment and other bills.
·         Park, safety, landscaping and other community initiatives.
·         Projects to help students meet community service hour requirements.
·         Anything that can be done to put people together to improve our quality of life.

“We’ve all been touched by the sad “Lost Dog” postings in our neighborhoods. Now we can get those notices on-line so the word can get out instantly and we can find the poor lost pooch,” said Sanchez, citing an example of how Joe’s Troopers will work.

A link to Joe’s Troopers is on the front page of Chairman Sanchez’s City website: www.miamigov.com/district3.

The name for this innovative community tool comes from Sanchez’s nickname of Trooper Joe, which he earned during more than a decade of service as a Florida Highway Patrolman – where he learned the value of uniting communities for the common good.
