(Miami, FL)- Mayor Manny Diaz and City Commissioners today joined children from the City parks summer programs to officially launch the City of Miami’s first-ever Park Rangers program.
“Providing a quality park system for residents continues to be a priority for this City,” said Mayor Diaz. “The creation of the Park Rangers program marks another important milestone in the improvement of our parks and continues our mission to ensure that our residents have a better park system than ever before.”
The City’s 24 Park Rangers received certificates of recognition for being the first corps of Park Rangers in the City. The Rangers’ tasks include ensuring the safety of residents at City parks, patrolling parks to monitor the surroundings, upholding the rules and regulations, serving as a liaison with the community, and deterring criminal activity with their presence. Their duties also include directing traffic and assisting with crowd control when necessary.
The Park Ranger Program is a continuation of the increased investment in the City’s Parks System in the past 7 years. Miami is now joining other major cities with Park Ranger Programs such as Los Angeles, New York City, Boston, and San Francisco.
