Miami Commissioner Marc Sarnoff Aims Spotlight on U.S. Automakers with New Series at City Hall
-“Go Green, Buy American” Showcases American-Made Eco-Friendly Cars During a Time the Industry needs a Major Boost-
|
(Miami, FL)---City of Miami Commissioner Marc D. Sarnoff, representatives from General Motors, and Miami Goin’ Green, take part in Commissioner Sarnoff’s first-ever “Go Green, Buy American” event Thursday, May 21st at 6:30pm in front of Miami City Hall (3500 Pan American Drive in Coconut Grove.)
“When it comes to “Green” cars, most of us think about the Toyotas, Hondas, and even the French made Smart Car which I currently drive. Unfortunately, American companies have lagged behind imports when it comes to environmentally friendly vehicles. That must change,” says Commissioner Sarnoff.
Cars on hand for the public to check out and test drive include the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV, the Chevy Malibu Hybrid, the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid, and a first look at the 2010 Chevy Camaro (29 mpg).
Miami Goin’ Green will also offer tips and advice on how car owners can make their own cars run more efficiently and cost-effective.
Commissioner Sarnoff is not endorsing any particular automaker (an event with FORD is planned for June); he is looking for creative ways to encourage the American auto industry to bounce back strong from the current down economy.
“This is a great way for the public to see these eco-friendly U.S. cars up close and personal and ask any questions they’d like to the people who are touting their success,” says Commissioner Sarnoff.
