(Miami, Florida) –Beginning on Monday, February 16, 2009 there will be nightly non-peak full lane closures on Flagler Street between SW 63 Avenue and SW 65 Avenue, from 9:00 PM until 5:30 AM. The City of Miami Office of Capital Improvements will be trenching and installing concrete storm sewer pipes crossing Flagler Street as part of the City of Miami Flagami/West End Storm Sewer Improvements Phase II Project. The full lane closures are expected to continue through February 27, 2009.  

Off-duty police officers will be on site to aid in project safety and to ensure that should any emergencies arise, emergency response vehicles will have access to the adjacent neighborhoods. Electronic information boards will be posted on Flagler Street and 69 Avenue for Eastbound traffic and on Flagler Street and 59 Avenue for Westbound traffic 48 hours before and during the extent of the closures.  

All Eastbound traffic will be detoured South on SW 67 Avenue, then East on SW 8 Street and back North on SW 62 Avenue to bring back  traffic to Flagler Street.  Westbound traffic will be detoured South on 62 Avenue, then West on SW 8 Street and back on 67 Avenue to bring traffic back to Flagler Street.  Signage delineating the detour will be placed along the route each evening and taken down prior to re-opening Flagler Street each morning.  Drivers should use caution traveling through this area.
