(Miami, FL)- Joined by numerous representatives of animal rescue organizations including Miami Dade Animal Services, the Humane Society of Greater Miami, Cat Network and Adopt-A-Stray, City of Miami Commission Chairman Joe Sanchez declared every second Thursday of February Animal Care, Rescue and Adoption Awareness Day in the City of Miami.
“During these tough economic times we must take into account that many animals are being abandoned due to foreclosures. It is imperative that we do everything we can to promote adoption of animals, responsible pet ownership, and spay/neuter programs,” said Commissioner Sanchez.
Chairman Sanchez addressed the public from Miami City Hall’s lawn and displayed a handful of dogs up for adoption from Miami Dade Animal Services and the Humane Society of Greater Miami. “I will work hard in order to ensure these pets find a good home,” stated Commissioner Sanchez. For information on adopting a pet, folks are encouraged to contact their local animal rescue organization.
