(Miami, Florida)—City of Miami Commissioner Michelle Spence Jones, District 5, joined by city administrators and members of the Buena Vista Heights Homeowners Association held a groundbreaking ceremony in Buena Vista Heights for Phase II of the Buena Vista Heights Beautification Project.

“It is the public and the government working together to make sure that the dollars are available, that the work actually gets done and that after it’s done, we maintain it.  That’s what this new era is all about: taking responsibility in cleaning and keeping our neighborhoods,” said Commissioner Spence-Jones.

The scope of this Capital Improvements project consists of street milling and resurfacing, sidewalk repairs, drainage improvements, street widening, new curb and gutter, pavement markings and limited landscaping.  The location of the project is bounded within the area of NW 41st Street from North Miami Avenue to NW 2nd Avenue, NW 42nd street from North Miami Avenue to 2nd Avenue, NW 44 Street from North Miami Avenue to NW 2nd Avenue and NW 45 Street from North Miami Avenue to NW 2nd Avenue.  Also, NW 1st Avenue from NW 40th Street to NW 46th Street excluding the NW 40th Street & NW 46th Street intersection.

The cost of construction is estimated at $1,978,963 with funding provided by Street Bonds and the Transit Half-Cent Surtax.
