(Miami, FL) -City of Miami Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones, District 5 will deliver Thanksgiving baskets filled with turkeys and trimmings to families in District 5 on Monday, November 24, 2008 from 12:30p.m. to 4:00p.m. (See below for a listing of locations). The Commissioner will make her first delivery of turkeys to senior citizens at the Eugenio Maria De Hostos Senior Center in Wynwood, located at 2902 NW 2nd Ave. at 12:30p.m.

“During the Thanksgiving holiday, there are so many people that do not have money to provide a thanksgiving meal for their families,” said Commissioner Spence-Jones. “Hopefully, these Thanksgiving baskets will provide residents with a great thanksgiving meal for the families that receive them.”

In addition, the Office of Commissioner Spence-Jones will provide 300 individuals and or families in the District with turkeys. The distributions will take place at the Little Haiti Net Office located at 6421 NE 2nd Avenue and Curleys House Food Bank located at 6025 NW 6th Court.  Selected families will pick up their turkeys on Monday, November 24th from 12:00pm to 2:00p.m.

The Thanksgiving turkey give-a way’s in District 5 are in partnership with the International Longshoremen’s Association A.F.L.C.I.O. Local Union 1416 and the Contractors Resource Center. For more information or to schedule a photo op, please contact
