(Miami, Florida)—City of Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, Commissioner Angel Gonzalez, Commission Chairman Joe Sanchez, and Commission Vice-Chair Michelle Spence-Jones took part today in the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Melreese Clubhouse and Restaurant Project.

“Today, we not only celebrate the beginning of a project that will help attract many more golfers to the City of Miami, but we also celebrate the construction of the very first city building that will be LEED Silver Certified,” said Mayor Manny Diaz.

The construction of the new Melreese Golf Course clubhouse and restaurant facility consists of a gross building area of 17,459 sq. ft., including indoor and outdoor spaces, breezeways, courtyard, two tennis courts and covered air perimeter.

“This new clubhouse will make Melreese golf course a first class golfing facility,” said Commissioner Angel Gonzalez. “With the completion of this project, both residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of recreational activities including playing baseball, walking, enjoying the water park and golfing, all within the same block.”

Project cost is $4,028,362 with funding sources from Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority and Sunshine State Financing Commission.

Melreese Golf Course is located at 1802 NW 37 Avenue. For more information please contact Danette Perez, Capital Improvements Program at 305-416-1286.
