Remember those days when you were a teen and wished there was a place you could go away from parents and just hang out with your friends and your parents would agree to let you go? Well the City of Miami Parks Department has the perfect opportunity for teens to get a taste of freedom but in a safe way. On Friday, September 26, 2008 Grapeland Water Park will be open after hours but for teens only.

For $5 per person, teens ages 13-17 from 8pm – 10pm can come and enjoy the water park under the supervision of staff and lifeguards. They will be able to take a ride around the lazy river, play an impromptu game of aqua-dodgeball or enter the hula hoop contest.

Recognizing that there needs to be more programs and activities that engage teens the city of Miami Parks and Recreation Department has been making an effort to make more teen friendly and enticing programs available. This will be the third teen only event at the Grapeland Water Park and many more are planned throughout the year.

During normal operating hours teens must be accompanied by an adult to enter the park, but this dedicated teen event gives them the ability to leave the adults behind but give parents the peace of mind that their child will be supervised in a controlled environment.
