U.S. Conference of Mayors President
Miami Mayor Manny Diaz Addresses
National Urban League Conference in Orlando

-Address Focused on Mayors' Urban Agenda-

Orlando, FL - U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) President Miami Mayor Manny Diaz today addressed an audience of close to 1,000 guests during the 2008 National Urban League Annual Conference in Orlando to talk about the mayors' urban priorities and agenda, in the midst of the 2008 presidential campaign.

Last month at the USCM Annual Meeting held in Miami, Mayor Diaz, the newly-elected President of the mayors’ organization, stated that Washington has ignored the role, value and promise of the nation’s cities and metro areas - which is where 85% of American people live.

Mayor Diaz has set out to shape the domestic agenda of the next U.S. President in his FIRST 100 DAYS – and is launching a series of forums across the country on the 5 key domestic issues: crime, infrastructure, poverty, arts, and environment. His address to the National Urban League focused on these priorities and the importance of investing in our nation’s cities.

To continue laying out the beginnings of a mayors’ urban agenda for America, Mayor Diaz will address the members of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on Monday, August 4, 2008, at 12:30 pm. He will then join other mayors and police in Philadelphia, on August 6, for the Mayors’ Forum on Crime America, the first stop in the series of national forums.
