City Seeks Eligible Applicants for its Housing & Commercial Loan Committee (HCLC)

(Miami, Florida) — The City of Miami is seeking applications from persons interested in serving as voting members of the Housing and Commercial Loan Committee (HCLC). Established by City Resolution, the HCLC serves as the City of Miami’s affordable housing advisory committee and was granted the authority to approve or disapprove loan applications for funding of affordable housing projects and commercial projects, and related transactions. Its thirteen (13) members act without compensation and have a professional knowledge of housing-related matters.
The City is seeking individuals with qualifications in one of the following capacities: actively engaged in the residential home building industry; actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry; a representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building; actively engaged as an advocate for low-income persons; actively engaged as a for-profit housing provider; actively engaged as a not-for-profit housing provider; actively engaged as a real estate professional; a resident of the City of Miami; a person who represents employers within the City of Miami; a person who works in the following trades/industries within the City of Miami – education, health care, law enforcement, fire safety/emergency, and criminal justice system. Preference is given to those candidates who have direct affordable housing experience. All HCLC members should be active residents of the City of Miami, own real property within the City of Miami, and/or work or maintain business within City of Miami limits. A person is not eligible to serve on the HCLC if that person owns financial interest, is employed by, or is an officer of, any entity that receives or intends to receive funding from the City of Miami.
The application and requirements for HCLC membership will be available starting Monday, July 21, 2008, on the web at www.miamigov.com/communitydevelopment/ or may be picked up on or after that date, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at the City’s Department of Community Development, 444 SW 2nd Ave., Second Floor.
