(Miami, FL.)-- City of Miami Mayor Manny Diaz and Commissioner Marc Sarnoff today held a press conference at Miami City Hall to urge support from the Waterfront Advisory Board and the City Commission for the Coconut Grove Waterfront Master Plan. Joining Mayor Diaz and Commissioner Sarnoff were key members of the Coconut Grove community who have been intricately involved in the drafting of the master plan.

Renderings of the master plan and what the Coconut Grove waterfront will look like when the plan is implemented were also available at the press conference. 

The Coconut Grove Waterfront Master Plan has been drafted to reflect the growth and desires of the community. The goal is to create to a Coastal Recreational Park that emphasizes human scale, public open spaces, and connectivity for the pedestrian realm through the creation of waterfront promenades, diverse open spaces, an active park with sensitive environmental spoil island connections that will enhance the water component and recreational elements of the Coastal Park’s recreational and environmental elements.

The City’s Waterfront Advisory Board is scheduled to vote on the plan on Tuesday, July 8th, during their scheduled meeting at City Hall, 6:30 pm. The City Commission will consider the plan on Thursday, July 24th.
