(Miami, FL)– City of Miami Mayor Manny Diaz will announce that the City is joining the international organization The Climate Group during a press conference on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 1:00 pm, at the Kampong, 4013 Douglas Road. The announcement will be made as part of the Climate Group’s first annual North America members meeting, a three day conference held in Miami.

Teaming with the world's only international organization dedicated solely to the issue of climate change, this will be another step the City is taking to demonstrate it’s commitment to addressing climate change.

The Climate Group is a global, independent organization made up of member governments and companies. The Climate Group's mission is to accelerate the pace of international action on climate change to more quickly move the world towards a low-carbon economy. The Climate Group acts as a catalyst to facilitate bolder, more innovative initiatives, such as the historic roundtable discussions with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Prime Minister Tony Blair and Florida Governor Charlie Christ focused on opportunities for public-private partnership and inter-government cooperation.

The organization expanded to the United States just a few years ago with only a few people based in New York, but now has over a dozen offices in locations such as New York, the San Francisco Bay area, Tallahassee and soon Chicago. Internationally, the Group has offices in London, China, Australia and India.
