(Miami, Florida)—City of Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, Commissioner Angel Gonzalez, joined by City Manager Pete Hernandez, neighbors, and city administrators will celebrate the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony to mark the opening of the new baseball facility at Fern Isle Park, Wednesday, February 27, 2008, 10:30am, located at 2201 NW 11th Street.

The new baseball facility is yet another of many capital improvements projects presently under construction across the city.  Our Capital Improvements Department supervised the design phase and construction of two (2) regulation baseball/softball fields that includes back-stops, spectator seating, children’s play structure, a 3.500sq. ft. building for a concessionaire, restrooms and storage, open shelters, a walk path, landscaping, parking lot, new turn around traffic loops, fencing, sports and security lighting and two (2) basketball courts. 

The total cost of the project is $5, 310, 350 with funding provided by Homeland Defense Improvement Bond and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond.
