City of Miami Seeks Public Comments on EAR-Based Amendment at NET Public Meetings

-Series of meetings start on Tuesday, January 29th-

(Miami, Florida)- City of Miami’s Planning and Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) departments will be conducting a series of public meetings to present and seek public comment on the recent Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR)-Based Amendments of the City’s goals, objectives and policies. The public meetings will be held from Tuesday, January 29th thru Wednesday, February 13th, 2008 at various locations throughout the City. Miami residents are invited to attend.

The purpose of the meetings is to seek public comments on the EAR document approved by the State in 2006 and on the State-required Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan as part of the amendment process.  The State requires the process be completed for the City of Miami by August of 2008.

The EAR-Based Amendments are amendments or changes to the current Miami Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan (MCNP) elements, goals, objectives, and policies. As required by Florida Statutes, the recent Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR) was a status report of the City’s goals, objectives and policies as to the effectiveness of the MCNP reflecting current identified neighborhood issues. The EAR made recommendations for updates and improvements only. The State Department of Community Affairs subsequently requires these recommendations be formally addressed in an amended MCNP.
