Antonio Maceo Park New Recreation Building and NET Service Center Now Open in Flagami Area

(Miami, Florida)-City of Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, joined by Commission Chairman Angel Gonzalez, Commissioner Joe Sanchez, District 3; City Manager Pete Hernandez, City administrators and area neighbors celebrated the grand opening of the new Antonio Maceo Park recreation building and NET Service Center. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Antonio Maceo Park, 5115 NW 7 Street. Area residents and senior citizens toured the facility and played dominoes after ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Antonio Maceo Park activities will focus on senior programs for the area residents such as dominoes, card games, fitness, exercise and dance programs. Computer instruction for residents and children as part of e-parks and after school programs, as well as various team and individual programs with kayak and boating activities.
The design and construction of a new 5,300 s.f. community center building. The building has 3,700 s.f. of air-conditioned space that includes Parks Administration Office Space, provisions for the Flagami NET Office, art and computer rooms along with a sizeable multipurpose room.
The estimated construction cost is $1.23 million with funds from Homeland Defense Neighborhood Improvement Bond, Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond, General Fund and Impact Fees.
Effective Monday, October 29th, the Flagami Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) office will relocate from its current location, 3802 NW 11 Street to the new facility at Antonio Maceo Park at 5115 NW 7 Street. NET’s mission is to improve the quality of life and business for Miami residents by: facilitating professional, courteous and efficient delivery of municipal services; developing partnerships which bridge the gap between the public and private concerns; and enhancing and revitalizing Miami’s diverse neighborhoods.
