Mayor Manny Diaz & Commissioner Marc D. Sarnoff Inaugurate the US1 Replacement Wall Project
|
(Miami, Florida)- Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, Commissioner Marc D. Sarnoff, City administrators and local residents will celebrate the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the US1 Replacement Wall Project on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Nethia Drive and Halissee Street.
The scope of work includes removing the existing pink wall along US1 and replacing with a new pre-cast concrete barrier wall. Construction will start on SW 17 Avenue heading north towards the Planetarium. The estimated construction cost is $2.7 million with funding sources from Transit Half-Cent Surtax, and Miami Dade County Grant/Contribution.
The long awaited project for the neighbors of Bay Heights and Natoma Manors will bring uniformity to the existing wall as well as beautify an important gateway into the City of Miami. Construction hours are from Monday-Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. The project is anticipated to be completed by February 2008 (weather permitting).
