City of Miami Finance Department Receives Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
|
(Miami, Florida) —The City of Miami Finance Department announced this week it has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 2006 fiscal year. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“We are excited to achieve and receive such recognition,” said Diana Gomez, Director of the Finance Department. “It is because of the department’s hard work, commitment and dedication in preparing the Annual Financial Report.”
The City’s CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 16, 000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C.
