City Manager Pete Hernandez Appoints New Assisstant City Manager
-Bill Anido Brings 35 Years of Experience in Planning, Design, & Management-

(Miami, Fla.) –City of Miami Manager Pete Hernandez announced today the appointment of Guillermo (Bill) Anido to the position of Assistant City manager for the City of Miami. He will begin his employment on October 29, 2007. His responsibilities will include Capital Improvement Programs and Transportation, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Planning, Zoning and Building.
“Bill’s extensive leadership and project management skills will be an asset to the City as we continue our efforts to build a sustainable infrastructure to better serve our constituents,” said Mr. Hernandez.
Bill brings 35 years of experience to the City in the area of planning, design and management of major public works projects from inception to completion. He served as principal-in-charge of such recent projects as the Port of Miami Tunnel Feasibility Study and the East-West Multimodal Corridor, both for the Florida Department of Transportation, Miami International Airport Central Boulevard widening project; the North Extension of Metrorail for Miami-Dade Transit; and the Bay Link project for the Miami-Dade Metropolitan Planning Organization. Other projects that Bill has been actively engaged in include the 17th St. Causeway Project and Environmental Study for the City of Fort Lauderdale, the OMNI Extension of the Dade County Metromover and the San Juan Airport Terminal Roadway Expansion. His earlier experience includes his role as Director of Transit System Development for Dade County’s Metrorail Stage I Project, which included the design, construction supervision and real estate acquisition for a $1 billion elevated heavy rail system and $60 million bus maintenance facilities program.
Bill’s past employment includes leadership positions in both private and public sector organizations including his most recent role as Senior Vice President with DMJM Harris responsible for business development in Florida; Senior Vice President and Southeast District Manager with Parsons Brinckerhoff responsible for this internationally recognized engineering firm’s projects and management in the South Florida and Caribbean area and Vice President, Metric Engineering where he was responsible for managing multi-million dollar public works and large scale, private development projects throughout Florida. Bill was Director of Transit System Development with Dade Country Transportation Administration and held other various engineering positions with the County from 1969 through 1983.
Bill received both his Masters and Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Miami and a registered Professional Engineer with the State of Florida, Alabama as well as Puerto Rico.
