(Miami, Florida)—The City of Miami is now accepting applications for Police Officer.  Applications for both Basic Recruit and State of Florida Certified  Police Officers are being accepted.  City of Miami Police Officers recently ratified a new labor agreement.  As a result, the current starting salary, after the academy, for Police Officers is $43,293, plus $2,000 Crime Prevention Pay.  State Certified Police Officers are eligible for advanced step appointments based upon level of experience.  Additionally, the City of Miami offers degree incentives, excellent benefits including tuition reimbursement, training and outstanding promotional opportunities, and an outstanding pension plan.  Additionally, a one-time FDLE certification of $1648 is provided to probationary employees upon completion of probation regardless when his/her probation ends.

Applicants must be 19 years of age by August 10, 2007; and they must present the following documentation:  proof of passing score on the FBAT, CJBAT or FDLE police examination; valid driver’s license from any state; high school diploma, GED or higher; proof of U.S. citizenship; Background Investigation Request Form; and if claiming veteran’s preference, must bring military discharge papers.  The required employment application form, and the background form  can be obtained from the City of Miami Employment Office or downloaded from the City website at http://www.miamigov.com/.  In addition, eligible applicants will be required to pass a written, entry level exam.
