Office of the city attorney:   Home

The attorneys in this Division are responsible for representing the City, its employees, and public officials at the trial and appellate level in both federal and state courts. The scope of representation includes cases involving public officials' liability; claims of statutory, constitutional and civil rights violations, claims arising under the Americans with Disability Act; wrongful death, personal injury and tort actions; and commercial and construction disputes, including mortgage foreclosures and quiet title actions. In addition to trial and appellate advocacy, the attorneys work very closely with the Department of Risk Management and management officials in other city departments to proactively reduce the incidence of litigation.  The Police Legal Advisor provides day-to-day legal advice to the police department and its personnel.
