ELECTION RESULTS

The election, originally scheduled for August 19, 2008 was rescheduled to August 28, 2008 due to Tropical Storm Fay. Five (5) seats were available for election/reelection. Three candidates, Brenda Dawson, Cecilia Stewart and Bettye Stillman were elected outright, receiving the highest number of votes. Three candidates, Joyce Floyd, Lynette Gonzalez and Deana Jordan entered a 3-way-tie for the remaining two seats.

Per section 9 of the Charter of the City of Miami and per chapter 100.181 of the Florida Statutes, should two or more persons receive an equal and highest number of votes for the same office, such persons shall draw lots to determine who shall be elected to the office.

The Office of the City Clerk conducted the drawing of the lots with the candidates on September 4th, 2008. Joyce Floyd and Deana Jordan were seated to the remaining two elected member seats.

Upon ratification of the election results at the September 11, 2008 Commission Meeting, the full list of candidates elected to the Overtown Community Oversight Board is as follows.
