insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, and
accidental death and dismemberment insurance.
The Group Benefits Unit ensures that the City is
in compliance with all federal regulations and
administers mandatory benefits such as
Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation Act (COBRA),
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability
Act (HIPAA), and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Providing first-class customer service to all
current employees and retirees is an
integral component of the Unit's overall
responsibility. The Unit regularly
reconciles insurance bills and claims for all
insurance plans. This system allows
the Risk Management Department to offer
employees assistance in an efficient
and expedited manner year round.
