The City of Miami is required to certify all minority and female vendors interested in providing goods and services to the City as per requirements of the Minority & Women Business Enterprise and Procurement ordinances #10062 & #10538 which establish a fifty-one percent (51%) [Hispanic - 17%, Black - 17%. Women - 17%] annual procurement goal.

Hispanic or Black women-owned businesses are required to annually self-elect the ownership classification, i.e., minority or female, for which they wish to be considered. Once certified in either the minority or female category, these vendors will be limited to participating in set-asides or vendor goals in that category for one year. Any changes to the original certification application must be registered with the City of Miami. Failure to do so may result in a recommendation that the vendor be removed from the City's eligible and certified vendor list.

The application and certification forms and the specific instructions for completing and processing them are included in the M/WBE Certification Application package are summarized below:

1. Vendor Application Form: This form must be completed by all vendors, signed by a principal of the company, and returned to the Department of Purchasing with the M/WBE Affidavit notarized. If previously completed, please indicate on Certification Check List. This registers you with the City's Purchasing Department.

2. Commodities and Services Data Form: All applicant vendors must attach the product/services list, checking the goods and/or services which will be offered by the company to the City. It is important to be product/service specific when completing this checklist.

3. Minority and Women Business Enterprise Certification Application: In addition to the Vendor Application, Hispanic, Black and/or women-owned businesses desirous of participating in specifically designated City of Miami procurement opportunities, under the provisions of ordinances #10062, #10538 & #10332 are also required to submit an application to be certified as such. Firms may submit the vendor and certification applications concurrently or separately.

MINORITY AND WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES CURRENTLY CERTIFIED BY MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS OR THE STATE OF FLORIDA SHOULD SUBMIT WITH THE CITY’S M/WBE CERTIFICATION APPLICATION A COPY OF THEIR CURRENT CERTIFICATE WITH ONE OF THE ABOVE ENTITIES.
