General Government Division

The General Government Division specializes in financial, transactional, contractual, and commercial matters. It is also responsible for collections and foreclosures actions on behalf of the city.

One of the primary functions of the division is the coordination, review, and monitoring of bond issues which originate from city departments and are prepared for issuance upon approval of the City Commission. Due to the highly specialized nature of document preparation and the necessity for a thorough knowledge of the municipal bond market, bond offerings are prepared by outside counsel with the assistance and supervision of the division chief. In the event the bond issue is validated through the courts, the division chief presides as counsel during the proceedings.
